When I Don’t Feel Like Enough
But provision doesn’t always look like a full toolbox or a solved problem. Sometimes provision looks like presence. Faithfulness. Prayer.
Some days, I just feel… unworthy.
Like I don’t measure up. I’m not the guy who can rebuild an engine or put up a house from the ground up. I’m not a handyman, but I can hang pictures and a TV. When I start thinking like I don’t measure up, the enemy is quick to pile on—lying to me, stealing my joy, and trying to crush any hope I have.
Can you relate?
But why am I surprised? Jesus already told us what the enemy’s MO is: “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy…” (John 10:10a, LSB).
We recently took a trip to Florida to visit family and for my wife to take care of some of her remote work responsibilities. The night before we were supposed to leave, I crawled under my truck to remove a loose guard that had been hanging underneath—and I noticed what looked like oil.
There was no dripping on the ground, but still—it wasn’t a good sign.
Then, on the way home, my oil light came on. It said the oil life was at 5%. That didn’t make sense at all—I had just gotten the oil changed the week before. Something was definitely wrong.
In my mind, I started spiraling: What if my truck breaks down? I don’t know how to fix it. Does that make me less of a provider for my family?
The enemy would say yes—loud and clear. But Jesus kept whispering something different to my soul:
“You are worthy. You are a provider—not because of what you can or can’t fix—but because you’ve surrendered your household to Me.”
As for me and my house, we serve the Lord.
And even when that doesn’t make sense to the world—even when it feels like things are falling apart—we’ve made Jesus our top priority.
And that is what defines me as a husband, a father, and a provider.
Sometimes I think we confuse being a provider with being a performer.
We think we have to always be capable, always have answers, always fix what’s broken. And when we fall short, that inner voice starts to whisper—you’re failing.
But provision doesn’t always look like a full toolbox or a solved problem. Sometimes provision looks like presence. Faithfulness. Prayer.
Sometimes the greatest way I can provide for my family is by being steady—even when I don’t have the solutions.
There was a moment on our trip—nothing big—just packing up our things to head home while the kids snuggled on the couch and my wife tidied up the kitchen. And I remember thinking, they’re not worried about oil leaks. They’re not keeping score of what I can or can’t fix.
They just want me.
That’s when I felt the Lord gently say:
“You don’t have to hold everything together—I already am.”
For those moments when you feel unworthy, this is what I’ve found truly helps: Jesus.
I don’t say that as just “Christian talk,” but with urgency—run to Jesus. Every feeling of unworthiness was nailed to the cross with Him.
They are crucified.
So why do we keep trying to pull those feelings off the nails?
Why do we insist on carrying what He already carried for us?
The cross wasn’t just for our sin—it was for our shame, our guilt, and our feelings of not being enough.
He bore it all. Let that sink in for a moment.
So when those lies rise up again, don’t argue with them.
Run to the One who already silenced them.
If today you feel like you're not measuring up, like you're falling short in areas no one else sees—take a breath.
You’re not alone.
And you’re not less-than.
You’re not defined by your weaknesses, your skillset, or even your success.
You are defined by whose you are.
Jesus didn’t choose you because you had it all together.
He chose you because He loves you.
And He’s not letting go.
P.S. Oh, by the way, I had my truck’s oil checked—all is fine. It’s not leaking after all. Praise God for that!

Brother Aaron, your words truly touched my heart today. Many times I have felt not enough” in the world’s eyes, but you reminded me of God’s truth that our worth is in Christ alone. The apostle Paul said But He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me (2 Corinthians 12:9).I also hold close Matthew 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you That’s the true measure of provision.Your testimony and way of pointing people to Jesus is a great encouragement.I would be deeply blessed if one day you could share your teachings here in India. There are many hearts hungry for the Word, and your message of everyday obedience and faith in Christ could inspire countless lives.May the Lord continue to bless you, your family, and your ministry. In Christ’s love,Raju indian preacher
